PAC Newsletter – Jan 13, 2017

Winter snow, Kent, England, UK

So you survived the first week back at school…and the second…nicely done. The snow is slowly melting and we may be able to see the playground at Ross Road very soon.

The Christmas fair is now a distant memory but we have some great news to share with you. Due to the commitment of parents and students alike we were able to raise $8,849 from the Christmas Fair. This is a fabulous amount and means that we can put the monies towards some educationally beneficial purchases for our kids to use in a school setting. Thank you to all that made this possible. We will be able to provide more details at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May  31st as to what the money may possibly be used for.

Next up….Kindergarten and grade 1 parents as our Special Events Hosts for the Staff Appreciation Lunch!!!

And grade 2 and 3 will be planning the Spring Carnival.

Upcoming Events

Please note the PAC pays for both parent presentations and attendance would bring tremendous value to the night. No registration is required for the above dates and free babysitting will be available upon request. Email rossroadpac@gmail.com

  • Did you pick up an free apple at the Christmas fair. It was good right? So scrumptious! The apples were provided by SPUD. SPUD provides an ongoing fund raising opportunity throughout the year so not only is it an opportunity to have some fresh fruit and vegetables and other groceries delivered to your doorstep but it also raises monies for the PAC to reinvest into the school for your kids.
  • Two Rivers Meats is also another fundraiser that we have available to parents all year.

Parent Social Night – Friday February 25th at Toby’s

Volunteers Needed

Card Project – Deborah Clegg,  our coordinator for this amazing project is handing the ropes to someone else after 5 wonderful years. We should mention it does NOT need to be run as a winter/Christmas theme and can be offered other times such as order delivery around Easter or Mothers’ Day.  Communicating with principal, office staff and of course teachers is key to success. Also, the owner, Marcelle of the Card project is amazing to work with. If you are interested in learning more about this role please reach out to us at rossroadpac@gmail.com

Family Bingo night – One or two volunteers are needed to bring back bingo night at Ross Road. In addition to building community we are hoping to raise $500 to top up our annual Bike To School Week program in the Spring. Please reach out to us using our rossroadpac@gmail.com if you are interested and/or want more information.

Have a great weekend and again welcome back.
