Introducing a new fundraising initiative at Ross Road School

Dear Ross Road parent,

As you know, fundraising for our children’s education has become an integral part of school life. Basic resources, like home reading books and computers, are no longer within the means of school budgets and must be funded through the PAC. While we will continue to find our identity in a strong community-building spirit, we are seeking out new and innovative ways to generate funds in addition to our already very successful and rewarding model of community-building while fundraising.

Which is why we are launching an exciting new fundraising initiative at Ross Road:

Make no mistake – with this new initiative, we aren’t asking you to spend more money than you already do. Or buy anything you don’t need. What makes this program so exciting is that it’s simply a matter of spending the money you already spend on the things you already buy, through a program that benefits the kids instead of traditional stores.

The Wealthy School Revolution program is a grocery and home product delivery service that delivers bi-weekly orders to the participating schools, and gives up to 15% of the purchase price back to the school. We’ll try out the program until January 2013 and will then evaluate our participation.

What we love about the program:

  • Raising funds for the school, purchasing the same groceries we ALREADY BUY!
  • The fabulous selection of healthy kid-favourite snacks
  • Individually boxed orders with family names, making for easy pick ups
  • The intuitive website streamlines ordering

As the chart below demonstrates, with your support the WSR program can generate significant funds!

The fundraising feats that our Ross Road parent community have accomplished in recent years have been both inspiring and essential. I urge you to join me in this exciting new endeavour by signing up at www.wealthyschools.ca. If you have any comments, please email us at rossroadpac@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more info!

Sincerely,
Tovah Paglaro & the Ross Road PAC

We will be ordering using MunchaLunch: www.munchalunch.com

  • There will be 8 Food Days between October 5 and March 8. We will be adding Sushi (which includes a variety of other items such as teriyaki chicken on rice and gyoza) to our menu, and we’ll now offer cookies from Save-On Foods.
  • Instead of offering Booster Juice at each Food Day there will now be special Booster Juice days and Pinkberry frozen yogurt days in between certain Food Days.
  • You can refer to the bottom of this notice for a complete list of lunch themes for this session.

The last day to place your order is Friday, September 28 at midnight.

HOW TO REGISTER/ORDER:

  • As a first time user, click the “Register Here” button (below) to be taken to MunchaLunch.com
  • Follow the easy steps to “Create my Account” and proceed to “Order lunch!”
  • Return anytime by going to: MunchLogin.com or via the bright green Munch a Lunch logo

PAYMENT DETAILS:

  • All payments must be received either by credit card/PayPal through the MunchaLunch website or by cheque made out to Ross Road PAC inserted in the PAC drop box in the school foyer no later than Monday, October 1 or your ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED. No late payments will be accepted. If possible please pay at time of ordering.
  • If you don’t receive a reminder email the day before each food day confirming your child’s lunch please contact us as your order may not have been processed.
  • Please double-check your order and review it with your child so he/she knows exactly what you’ve ordered for them each food day. Often children come to us confused thinking they were meant to receive food, but in fact their parents just didn’t order for them. We do not have any extra food to give out.

Consistent with previous years, there are NO REFUNDS as this is a PAC fundraiser. Our thanks to the Ross Road parent community for supporting this important fundraiser and to our wonderful Volunteers who help make this program a success!

PAC End-of-School-Year Letter to Ross Road parents

Hello Ross Road Parents,

The 2011-12 school year has drawn to a close and we’re looking back to see what we accomplished in the past year! The Ross Road PAC had a busy year with our usual events, activities and initiatives (e.g. Christmas Craft Fair, Spring Carnival, Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Valet Service, speakers).

We raised approximately $36,000 plus $10,440 in Gaming Funds in the 2011-2012 school year – which must be a record! About $11,180 of that money came from the IT Cheque-Writing Campaign.

So what did we spend all that money on? Here are the main items:

  • 20 iPad2’s (10 more to be purchased in the fall)
  • 3 outstanding musical performances at school assemblies (Ache Brazil, Hansel and Gretel Opera and Role Call)
  • $3,000 for school library replenishment / books
  • Two guest speakers: Jesse Miller / Social Media and Internet Safety (parent night and intermediate student talks) and LICE 911 parent night (at the height of lice season!)
  • Environment Club
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Classroom discretionary funds
  • Grade 7 Farewell reception

In the fall we will be purchasing:

  • Items from the teachers’ wish list (e.g. home reading books for primary grades, art supplies and more)
  • 10 more iPads (as mentioned above)

All in all, we have had a very successful year! We would like to thank the parents at Ross Road for all their support, be it as volunteers or as participants in our events and activities. A special thank you should go to the Class Reps, who are such an important part of everything we do. We couldn’t put on events and activities without their help and we are hugely appreciative of their efforts!

Looking forward, what’s on for next year? A few things are on the calendar already:

  • Family Photo days with MjM Studios (September 23 and 24)
  • Saleema Noon’s Body Science talks (Parent night Oct. 16, student talks Oct. 17 and 18)
  • Christmas Craft Fair and Spring Carnival: Bettina Harris and Desiree Blume will coordinate the Christmas Fair again next year and Sonia Han will likewise coordinate the Spring Carnival. THANK YOU, LADIES!
  • Performing Arts for the students (The PAC funds three musical performances at RR each year)
  • Valet Service (provided we continue to get enough parent and student volunteers)

We wish you all a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer! Looking forward to next year!

Ross Road PAC Executive Committee

Thank you to Spring Carnival business donors!

The Carnival Committee and the entire PAC Executive would like to extend our sincere thanks and acknowledgements to our generous business donors:
