Wanted: Mystery Bags & Bake Sale Contributions for the Christmas Fair!

MYSTERY BAGS

The Christmas Craft Fair will feature Mystery Bags again this year!

Parents, we NEED your help for this ever-popular treat. Please be generous – donate a few mystery bags for the Christmas Craft Fair so every child may have a chance to get one!

  • Preferably the bags should have a holiday or winter theme but they are certainly not limited to that.
  • The children LOVE these fun bags. Bags should have an approximate value of $5 per bag, and everything in the bags should be NEW (please, NO old candy or used toys). The bags could include fun holiday- or winter-themed things such as craft kits or supplies, ornaments to colour, kids’ costume jewellery or hair bands, fun kid’s gloves, small puzzles or games, candy boxes or bags, pencils, etc.
  •  The “bag” can be anything you like… brown lunch bag, goodie bag, gift bag – with the contents a mystery! All styles are welcome and fun!
  • Please label the bag as:
    • primary or intermediate
    • boy or girl
    • or either, as appropriate!

Mystery Bags can be dropped off anytime in the box below the PAC mailbox located in the lobby below the “down” stairs up to and including the day of the Christmas Craft Fair (Friday, November 30th)

BAKE SALE

And of course the ever-popular Bake Table will be selling goodies so we need your sweet contributions!

Please drop off cookies or brownies or cupcakes or squares or whole loaves or cakes at the office on Friday November 30th.

  • Where possible, please do not put nuts in your baking!
  • Store-bought “baking” is always welcome! ;-)
  • We ran out of baking last year so please be generous!
  • If possible, we would appreciate it if you could add your name and contribution(s) to the sign-up sheets in the lobby, or by emailing rossroadcraftfair@gmail.com

Thank you for your support and generosity!

Crafts made by Ross Road students to buy at the Craft Fair

Once again, we will have crafts hand-made by our students in their classrooms, available for sale at the Fair!

Crafts have long been the foundation of Christmas events at Ross Road School. This is the second year that students, teachers and parents have collaborated on crafts to sell at the Fair…a wonderful win-win joint effort! The students really enjoy making the crafts and feel a sense of pride in making something to sell, a sense of community is fostered with teachers, students and parents crafting together in the classrooms, and funds are raised for the school when the crafts go on sale at the Fair! Plus it gives you an opportunity to get an early start on your Christmas shopping!

Many thanks to all the parents who so capably helped out with the student crafts over the past few weeks!

This year we have lots of AMAZING crafts to buy at the Fair! Check out the photos below…

Christmas Craft Fair 2011 – final totals

Click image for more details about the 2011 Fair

…we made an astonishing $8,700 at the Craft Fair!!!  We believe this is a record number and we can all be very proud of ourselves in being part of such an amazing community event. The Christmas Craft Fair is one of our major fundraisers for the Ross Road community and all proceeds will go to make the school a better place for all of our kids!  Part of the money will be spent on new computer purchases and the rest will go into our general fund.

Class reps and parents, you truly outdid yourselves with the class baskets this year.  They alone raised $4,100!  Congratulations to all the lucky raffle basket winners! Click here for the complete list of winners.

Thank you for all of you who volunteered – behind the scenes and/or at the fair – we couldn’t have done it without you!  We count ourselves as extremely lucky to be working with such a committed bunch of people.  Thanks again for contributing your amazing energy, creativity and hard work to make this such a successful Craft Fair.

And thank you to everyone who came out on December 2nd and bought raffle tickets, food, drinks and crafts, and contributed to the amazingly festive atmosphere of this year’s Christmas Craft Fair!

Have a wonderful Christmas holiday – enjoy the well deserved time off with your family and all the best for 2012.

What a wonderful evening it was – lots of smiling children and parents, a gorgeously decorated gym filled with amazing raffle baskets and beautiful crafts handmade by our students, delicious baked goods, Santa on the stage and wonderful live piano music. Not to mention the delicious dinner served in Frosty’s Diner and the crêpes with chocolate sauce – very yummy! The craft rooms were filled with busy children making some fun crafts and the reading room in the library was packed when our very own Mr. Gruat performed the story-telling. All in all, a very fun event and there was something for everyone.

Congratulations to all the lucky raffle basket winners! A complete list of who won what is on display in the lobby, or click here to check it out online.

THANK YOU everyone for helping put together the amazing raffle baskets, volunteering with your time and talents, buying tickets, and of course, attending this fantastic event. We couldn’t have done it without you. Your competence, your flexibility and your good cheer made the Fair the success it was!

The Christmas Craft Fair is one of our major fundraisers for the Ross Road community and all proceeds will go to make the school a better place of all of our kids! Once we have all our expenses in we will be able to give you the amount we raised this year, but it’s already clear that we had a very successful Craft Fair.

Check out the Ross Road IT Committee’s booth at the Christmas Craft Fair!

The Ross Road Information Technology (IT) Committee will be in the foyer at the Christmas Craft Fair presenting information and ready to answer questions about its goals!

What is the Ross Road IT Committee?
The PAC has made the decision to purchase suitable computers and other technological devices for our classrooms. This is a large project that is directed by an Information Technology (IT) Committee. All stakeholders (teachers, administrators, School Board representatives and parents) are represented on the Committee. More information about IT purchases will be coming home to families in January – please watch for updates. To assist in the purchases planned for this school year, partial funds raised at the Christmas Craft Fair will go towards iPad2’s, laptops and Smart Boards.

For more information about the IT Committee and the planned purchases, please contact:
