  • If you don’t receive a reminder email the day before each food day confirming your child’s lunch please contact us as your order may not have been processed.
  • Please double-check your order and review it with your child so he/she knows exactly what you’ve ordered for them each food day.  Often children come to us confused thinking they were meant to receive food, but in fact their parents just didn’t order for them.  We do not have any extra food to give out.

If your child is ill:

If your child is ill on a lunch date, you are welcome to come to their class at 12:10 and pick up their lunch but we cannot keep the food for them.   Consistent with previous years, there are NO REFUNDS as this is a PAC fundraiser.   We appreciate your support for our hot lunch program as the funds go towards new computers and general fundraising within the school.

Our thanks to the Ross Road parent community for supporting this important fundraiser and to our wonderful volunteers who help make this program a success!

Welcome back! A message from and about YOUR PAC

Dear parents,

Through community-based events, the PAC raises funds to help make our children’s experience at school even better. We are looking forward to many exciting PAC events this school year that not only raise money for Ross Road, but are also a lot of fun! We are very lucky to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic parent group that co-ordinates its talents and time to make all of these events so successful and enjoyable! Click here to read more about past (and current)  Ross Road fundraising events and initiatves.

Our motto for the PAC is “more people knowing more!” Through our e-mail system, PAC website updates and with our Parent Teacher Liaison’s help, we hope to keep our PAC community as well informed as possible.   If you know of a parent that isn’t receiving these emails, please let them know they can sign up at our website.  Class reps are also a vital link: they “fan-out” emails from our Class Rep Coordinator, liaise between parents and teachers, and of course coordinate those fantastic class baskets for the Christmas Craft Fair, as well as the “midway” booths at the Spring Carnival.

As parents of a child at Ross Road School, you are automatically a member of the Ross Road PAC (RR PAC). Please know that you are welcome at all  general meetings throughout the year. This is a great forum to voice your comments, concerns and suggestions.

The RR PAC Executive Committee is elected by a majority vote from the members of RR PAC at the Annual General Meeting in May of each school year. All parents are welcome to contribute to the work of the Exec.

We need your help!  The work that the PAC does can only happen because parents step up and volunteer.  There are a number of opportunities for volunteers…some only taking 30 minutes a month.  Please, please consider volunteering to make your child’s school a better place.  If you’d like to know more, please get in touch with PAC Chair, Sarah Dennis: denniss@sutton.com

We always welcome your input! If you would like to get involved with any of our PAC events and activities – or have any questions, comments or suggestions for the PAC Executive, please send us a message: rossroadpac@gmail.com

The conflict continues

Dear parents,

As the labour conflict continues, the PAC Executive sees part of its mission is to provide Ross Road parents with information that they may find relevant.  Please note though, that as a body that represents the diverse views of all parents, the Executive will not endorse or promote one ‘side’ in this conflict over another.

Please contact Sarah Dennis or Greg Thorpe if you would like to suggest information to include in future newsletters.

The following message is from the North Vancouver Parents Supporting Teachers Facebook page:

We will continue our daily morning rallies. The rallies take place each morning between 8:30 and 9:00 am at the corner of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Hwy, on the same corner as the library. Bring your signs, musical instruments, pots and pans (the drum last week was wonderful!), and your enthusiasm. Come as often as you can, even if you can only stop by for a short time.

MLA Jane Thornthwaite is hosting another of her “Join Jane” events this Thursday, September 11 from 10 to 11 am at the Lynn Valley Main Library. This is an opportunity to come and share your concerns in person, or just come and show your support.

Special Post: MLA meeting this Thursday

Dear parents,

As the labour conflict continues, the PAC will continue to provide you with information that you may find relevant.

Jane Thornthwaite, the MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour will be holding one of her regular ‘Join Jane’ events at the Lynn Valley Main Library.  This is an opportunity for everyone in her constituency to come out and ask questions, express concerns, and hear her position on the ongoing teacher-government labour dispute. Details about this event can be found on the library web site: http://www.nvdpl.ca/adults/events/lynn/join-jane-21

Parents’ views on the conflict are critical and our voices need to be heard.  If you’re able, please drop in and please pass along this invitation to other families and interested people in our riding. The more parents  express their concerns about the education system, the more likely we are to be able to protect our children’s interests.

That pesky End of Year Picnic Poll

Hi there,

For some reason, that poll that was sent out in the last message is coming up as ‘private’ for some parents.

Unfortunately, I don’t know why it’s doing that, and Google is completely failing me in providing a magic solution.

So, if you’re having trouble accessing the poll, please click this link to go to the poll on the PAC website.

The problem *might* be something to do with accessing the poll on a mobile device.  So, if you still have a problem with that link on a mobile device, then please try on an old-fashioned computer.  I’ve tested that and it seems to work.

Thanks, and apologies for the inconveience.
