Mothers Day Baskets

Dear Ross Road families,

For the 2019 Grade 7 Quebec Exchange, the Grade 6 French Immersion students are asking for your support! We are selling beautiful, locally-grown, high-quality spring baskets, planters, herbs and veggies from DuVry Nursery just in time for Mothers’ Day! Ordering options:

  • Child-Specific Orders:
    • Order and pay directly through a Grade 6 French Immersion student and have the proceeds from your order help reduce the cost of their exchange.
  • Online General Orders:

Order Deadline: Friday, April 27th (all order forms and payment to be submitted to the office)

Payment: Cash or cheque made out to “Ross Road School”

Pickup/Delivery: Thursday, May 10th 2:30-4:00 pm (just in time for Mother’s Day!)

  1. Child-Specific Orders: Student will be responsible for arranging the pickup and delivery of your order.
  2. General Orders: To be picked up under the covered area in front of the school

Kilometer Club

We had a great start to KM club last week, with a turnout of 190 runners who braved the wet conditions to run a total of 1565km.  The class with the most participants was F04 Tancon/Dixon with 14 students, and the class which ran the furthest was F06 Noori/McKay with 125km.  Great job to everyone involved!

There are still a few runners who have not handed in their waivers.  We cannot record their runs without the waivers, so please get these into your teachers so we can distribute the kids’ ribbons!

Spring Carnival

Did you know it’s PAC fundraising dollars that pay for the technology (computers, iPads, etc) in our children’s classrooms at Ross Road? 

Currently, the PAC is trying to raise $20,000 to purchase new computers for Ross Road. One of the biggest PAC fundraisers is the ever-popular SPRING CARNIVAL!
So mark your calendars for FRIDAY, JUNE 8th — 5pm-8pm.
Bring your whole family, tell your neighbours, and come out for a fun evening in support of Ross Road!

Update from the School District

Boards of Education are encouraged to work with their local stakeholder groups, including parents, to gather their views on how funds should be allocated for K-12 public education, and provide this feedback to the Independent Review Panel in writing. Written submissions and questions about the funding model review can be sent to: k12fundingreview@gov.bc.ca before April 30, 2018.

Attention parents of Grade 2s and 3s. The good news is, Spring is here! The better news is, it’s time to start thinking about the Spring Carnival! Twos and Threes are responsible for organizing this event, and each of these classes should have one or two volunteers sit on the organizing committee. You are guaranteed guidance and support by our courteous, experienced PAC event planners, so don’t be intimidated. Please contact Susan at rossroadpac@gmail.com to find out more.

North Shore Minor Lacrosse

On Monday, February 26th, Ross Road students had the opportunity to learn about Canada’s national summer sport – lacrosse. Coaches and players from North Shore Minor Lacrosse hosted a demonstration, and our students had the opportunity to throw a ball around and learn the basics of the game.  Classes from kindergarten through Grade 5 also learned about the origins of lacrosse, and how the game was played by First Nations peoples before the arrival of colonists to North America.  It was a fun and educational experience for everyone.  A huge thank you to Ross Road parent and lacrosse coach Steve Archer for hosting the demo!

Munch-A-Lunch – Last Call!

ORDERING HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH 1st, 2018.

We will be running a lunch every Friday (except when no school) between now and then.

  1. As a first time user, click the “Register Here” button.
  2. Follow the easy steps to “Create my Account” and proceed to “Order Lunch!”
  3. As a returning user, click on “Login Here” using the same email and password and proceed to “Order Lunch!”

Payment Details:

All payments must be received by the deadline indicated or your ORDER WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED. No late payments will be accepted. Please pay at the time of ordering.

  • If you don’t receive a reminder email the day before each food day confirming your child’s lunch please contact us as your order may not have been processed.
  • Please double-check your order and review it with your child so he/she knows exactly what you’ve ordered for them each food day.  Often children come to us confused thinking they were meant to receive food, but in fact their parents just didn’t order for them.  We do not have any extra food to give out.

If your child is ill:

If your child is ill on a lunch date, you are welcome to come to their class at 12:10 and pick up their lunch but we cannot keep the food for them.   Consistent with previous years, there are NO REFUNDS as this is a PAC fundraiser.   We appreciate your support for our hot lunch program as the funds go towards new computers and general fundraising within the school.
