April is Art Month (April 2011)

The school lobby has been transformed into an art gallery, featuring the works of art by students at Ross Road. This is an exciting time of year as the school celebrates Art Education. Learning about and through the arts is alive and well at Ross Road. Come by and see what some of our students have been creating, along with the lovely 1000 Paper Cranes display and the “Students of the Week” board!

Penhall’s Studio – April 12 through May 11, 2011
Visit the Artists for Kids Gallery to view an extraordinary survey exhibition of more than 50 photographs, drawings, paintings, and prints by one of Vancouver’s most prominent artists, Ross Penhall.  This is a unique opportunity to experience an installation of “Penhall’s Studio” and you may catch a glimpse of the artist engaged in the creative process.  Be inspired, and discover artistic secrets from this gifted artist in a setting that is pure “Penhall”.

February 14th – Don’t forget to dress for Pink and Red Day!

Just a reminder that February 14th is Pink and Red Day at Ross Road!

From the February School Newsletter:
“Students are asked to come to school wearing pink or red to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Ross Road on Monday February 14th. Valentine’s Day is a perfect time for us to reflect upon the importance of friendship and caring for one another. The theme of our assembly that morning will be ‘Caring’. The Ross Road Peace Guerillas and Environmental Club will be giving presentations about the work they are doing to promote caring in our world. Mme Aiello and M Prentice’s classes will present a Valentine Song.”

Fabulous Cross-Country Season!

We had a large number of students running and their good spirit and excellent sportsmanship is a credit to Ross Road. Of course, the weather was tremendous also. Ms. Frazee and Mme Tancon would like to thank our dedicated parent volunteers who made it possible to run some interesting trails. We would also like to thank Keith Nicoll for leading the students in their warm up at the meets and doing a big part with some of the set up for the meets. We look forward to seeing many of you out there next year. Well done Team Ross Road!

8:40 Morning Bell Reminder

A reminder from the office to parents that the first morning bell is at 8:40. At that time, children should be on the grounds and ready to enter the building. The second bell is at 8:45. At that time, students should be seated and ready to start the day! The office has been signing in many, many late students lately and this interferes with a smooth, stress-free and pleasant start to the day. Please make sure that your child is at school on time in the morning!
