This is a message from Ross Road School:
Dear parents,

We are having our Remembrance Day assembly at 11 a.m. tomorrow and have asked any students who are involved with Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Sparks, etc. to wear their uniforms tomorrow.

We are also asking students to dress in appropriate clothing for a formal assembly.

Each student will be given a poppy and we are hoping that the students will bring a small donation for the collection tins from the Legion.

Thank you,

Ross Road School

And a note from the office about the Halloween Parade:

On Monday October 31st we will be holding our annual Halloween Parade, starting at 2:00pm.  Parents are welcome to come and join in the fun.  Please be aware that we need to keep the parade route clear for students, consequently, we are asking that parents take up position either in the gym outside the cones, or on the office side of the Foyer behind the cones.  Please do not stand in the hallways or by the front door as this will block the student’s progress.

Children may come to school in their costumes or dressed in black and orange.  Just a reminder that if fake weapons or any other sharp objects are part of the costume, we would ask that students leave those at home.

Many of you will be taking photos so just a reminder that we cannot post photos of students at school events on blogs or facebook etc. without their parents’ express consent.

Thanks so much for your cooperation in these matters
Have a spooky day!
–Eileen Hood

Halloween parade is on at Ross Road School!

Just to repeat the message from the school office:
“It has come to our attention that the Ross Road community was disappointed to see the traditional Halloween Parade go by the way side.  Consequently, the staff has been consulted and would like to let you know that a decision was made to proceed with the Halloween parade as in previous years.  Children can wear costumes or, if they choose, orange and black.”

Looking forward to seeing our ghosts and goblins parading around Ross Road School on Monday, October 31st!

Ross Road Pancake Breakfast – Friday, September 16th

Just a reminder about the Ross Road Pancake Breakfast on Friday, September 16th. This is the staff’s opportunity to show their appreciation to our wonderful parent community so please come on out!

The staff will start serving at 8:15am at the back of the school and will then hold the bells until about 9:00am.

In the interests of being ‘green’, please remember to bring your own plate, mug, cutlery and juice for your child as desired.

Hope to see you there!

Any experts out there?

Our Administrators have two large purchases to make  in the next few months. Eileen Hood has asked to ask if we have any parents in our community who have expertise in the following areas and if they would want to share their knowledge with her as she investigates options for our school.

  1. Ross Road School will be purchasing a new sound system for the gym and for outdoor events. This system will be funded by the PAC. If you have knowledge about stereo/sounds systems and would like to help, please contact Eileen Hood by Tuesday May 10th to offer assistance.
  2. Eileen is creating a committee to offer guidance on future IT purchases of student computers. Again, this will be paid for in part from PAC funds.  If you have any training, connections or knowledge in computer purchases and would like to join this committee, please contact Eileen by Friday May 13th to offer your help.
