Vote for Ross Road students in a national competition!

From time to time we publish news stories that feature Ross Road students, such as this exciting one…

Three students from Ross Road were chosen to make their Heritage Fair project into a video. They are now part of a national competition which includes 200 videos from kids across Canada. The top six kids will get to go to Ottawa to present their videos to an audience including the Governor-General. You can help them get there by voting for their videos (click the large VOTE button to the right of their video). You can vote for both of the videos. The last day to vote is August 7th, 2012. The children would be most appreciative of your support!

Fun Day, Friday June 8th: PAC Concession Stand and other details

FUN DAY CONCESSION STAND

The PAC will have its traditional concession stand open during Fun Day!
Send a loonie or two with your child to buy cookies, chips, drinks, macrame bracelet kits.

Read on for more info from the Fun Day Committee:

Dear Parents and Ross Road Community,

Our grade seven students have been working to organize this year’s Fun Day which will be taking place on Friday, June 8th.  Fun Day is an opportunity for all students to participate in a day filled with activities, games and school spirit.

This year’s theme is Under the Sea! We are encouraging students to dress in nautical or marine costumes that are appropriate for physical activity. Please refrain from wearing masks or bringing unnecessary props.  Other activities that have been traditional of Fun Day include:

  • Station activities (students will participate in station games organized by grade 7 students.  Stamped passports will earn a frozen treat)
  • Bicycle Parade (decorate your bicycle/tricycle and join in on the opening parade)
  • Hula Hoop contest
  • Pre-School race (a running race for our youngsters)
  • Tug-of War (grade 7 students vs. teachers)

>> Click here for a detailed Fun Day schedule.

Grade 7 students will also be running a food drive for the Harvest Project from June 4th-June 7th as part of their social responsibility project. Please donate non-perishable items to your child’s classroom bin.  A winning intermediate and primary class will be announced on Fun Day.

In the event of uncooperative weather, station activities will be moved inside.  The day’s schedule should see little change, however we encourage students to be dressed appropriately and to bring an umbrella as the larger group events (such as the bike parade and hula hoop contest) may still take place outdoors.

Please note that Fun Day is also a Food Day as well as early dismissal. Food will be available to students in their classrooms around 12:15. Students will be dismissed when they have finished eating.

Sincerely,
The Fun Day Committee
