Staff Appreciation Lunch – June 11

staff appreciation

Our Staff Appreciation Lunch is next Tuesday, June 11th.

We need all Ross Road families to help. Contributions of gifts, food, and playground supervision time are needed for the event.

And additionally – a special call out to our Kindergarten and Grade 1 parents. We need you for behind the scenes organization (gift buying, setup prep, and volunteer coordination).

We are lacking in volunteers for this event – please sign up here:

Here are ways you could help out:

  • Food – Bring appetizer/salad, main dishes or dessert
  • Gifts – Small gifts for all 55 staff members
  • Time – An hour to help with playground supervision, room set up or clean up

Lunch coordinators needed:  KINDERGARTEN and GRADE ONE classes are tasked with coordinating the event…with lots of help from the PAC Executive.  Please email christy_gold@hotmail.com if your child is in K/Grade 1 and you can help out with this event.

Staff Gifts: Contribute a gift or money towards a gift. Suggested items: 1) a bottle of wine, 2) a gift card of  $10-15 or 3) a cash donation for the PAC to purchase gifts.

Cash and gift cards: put them in an envelope clearly marked ‘Staff Appreciation Lunch Donations’ and drop your envelope in the PAC mailbox under the stairs.
Wine bottles: Please bring the wine bottles, with a note saying ‘for SAL’, to the office.

Donations accepted until Friday, June 7th. If you have a gift that’s not wine and doesn’t fit in the mailbox, please contact Christy Gold at the email address above.

Thank you.

Bike to School Week Wrap

bike to school
Ross Road Students & Teachers made over 1500 trips to school by bike last week!  Congratulations!  This is about 100 more trips than 2018 and 200 more than 2017!!!

The classes with the most bike trips and winners of the class Golf Lesson are Mme. MacDonald and M. Marion’s classes.

Ms. May’s class had over 100% participation in active transportation including her bike trips during the week.

Great work Ross Road Students, Parents, & Teachers!

Thank you Jackie Hicks for being our Bike to School Week Coordinator!

Jackie is stepping down from this role. The PAC is looking for a parent to lead Bike to School Week 2020! With our fantastic biking community, we’re sure we have a parent to step in!

Final Km Club Update

The last KM Club week was another short one.  We had a turnout of 160 runners, of which 46 were intermediates.

In total, they ran 917km, bringing the grand total to 8123km, the equivalent of running across Canada and half-way back again!

The Intermediate prizes were won by Sophie in F06 & Tiko in F04.  Mme. Marafon/Bulsara’s F10 class again had both the most participants this week (15) and ran the furthest (102km).  They have been the class to beat this year!

Overall, we have 11 bronze medals, 40 silver and 16 gold.  We had some dedicated runners, and a great turnout this year.

Many thanks to everyone who helped to make the KM Club event run so smoothly.

PAC Roles open for next year

We voted in our PAC executive for 2019/2020 at the PAC AGM last Wednesday.

Most positions are filled but we do have a few additional roles to fill for next year. These positions are a great way to get involved in the PAC and most only require your support within a specific time period.

We need:

  • Family photos coordinator
  • Bike To School Week Coordinator
  • PAC Vice Chair

Please contact rossroadpac@gmail.com for more information about these important roles.

Ice Cream Social

Come to Ross Road’s Ice Cream Social on June 25.
