If you are able to help out with any of these positions, please contact Carolyn at rcsluis@shaw.ca. Thank you!

p.s. And more baked goods for the bake sale tables would always be welcome!

Community Event: North Shore Celtic Ensemble

From time to time, the PAC website will post event listings that are relevant to our community and/or promote student involvement in extracurricular activities.

Come out and see The North Shore Celtic Ensemble at one of their upcoming
concerts on Nov 26th, 27th or December 4th! The sound of twenty fiddles with
guitars and piano must be experienced. Enjoy the style and spirit that brought them high praise and many standing ovations on their tour to Scotland last summer. And best of all, five of these fabulous musicians are former Ross Road Students!

  • Friday, November 26, 7:30 pm  – Kay Meek Centre, West Vancouver
  • Saturday November 27, 7:30 pm – Centennial Theatre, North Vancouver
  • Saturday, December 4, 7:30 pm – The Cultch, Vancouver

Come see “Scrooge” – the first annual Christmas Panto at Ross Road!

This year at the Christmas Craft Fair, the very hard-working Ross Road Theatre Group will be performing a panto version of “Scrooge”, a retelling of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with songs and plenty of opportunities for audience participation!

Traditionally performed at Christmas, with family audiences, British pantomime is now a popular form of theatre, incorporating song, dance, buffoonery, slapstick , cross-dressing, in-jokes and audience participation.  Straight re-tellings of the original stories are rare in the extreme – plot lines are often ‘adapted’ for comic or satirical effect, and certain familiar scenes tend to recur, regardless of plot relevance!

There will be two performances of “Scrooge” on Friday November 19th, each with a different cast.

6:15 pm & 7:15pm
In the Ross Road Gym

Tickets:
$4 adults
$2 children
This is an All-Access Pass that includes entry to both shows, as well as the Wandering Minstrels Talent Show from 5:00-6:00pm! What a deal!

Volunteers needed for Crafts stations!

The Craft Fair is fast approaching and the Craft coordinators still need more volunteers to help with the fantastic crafts that they have planned!  Here are the positions that need to be filled:

  • 3 more people to cover the 5pm – 6pm shift in each of the craft rooms.
One room will be for adults/kids to make a centerpiece, another for Intermediate kids and a third room will be crafts for all ages.  There will be a craft coordinator floating between all three rooms to answer questions and help out.
  • A few more volunteers help with the Santa photo ornament in the “Photo with Santa” room. Choose from the 5pm, 6pm or 7pm shifts.

Please contact Bettina Harris (robandbettina@shaw.ca) or Desiree Blume (desireeblume@gmail.com) if you can help and you will be emailed instructions and a photo of the craft that you have signed up for!

Thank you! Volunteering is a fun way to meet more families in the school and be part of the action!  This is one of our major fundraisers for the year and it’s only possible because of your help!

Do you have any empty glass jars?

We need lots of glass jars for one of the crafts that will be available for the kids at the Christmas Craft Fair!

If you have any clean glass jars — larger than baby food but smaller than tomato sauce sized — please drop them off in the box underneath the new PAC mail box in the lobby (by the PAC notice board). They will then be picked up from there.

Thank you very much!

Christmas Craft Fair – only a few days to go!

Yes, the countdown is on to this beloved Ross Road event taking place on Friday November 19th!

Class reps are getting ready to wrap up their respective baskets for the amazing Class Basket Raffle, so if you have not made your contribution (either an item or a cash donation) please try to get it to your class rep by Tuesday, November 16th to give the reps time make final purchases for the baskets and wrap them up into wonderfully eye-catching collections!

And don’t forget to sign up for a volunteer position! Sign-up sheets are up on the foyer so have a look at what’s available. The organizers need at least 2 volunteers from each class to help with anything from children’s crafts to setting up/cleaning up, ticket selling, serving hot chocolate, collecting tickets for the Panto etc. If you aren’t able to physically sign up for anything, just get in touch with your class rep and they can let you know what’s available!

Dinner at the Christmas Craft Fair – order by Monday, Nov. 15th

We are planning to offer dinner for families coming to the Christmas Craft Fair on November 19th. Many of you don’t have time to get dinner at home prior to the Fair. This service is offered by the PAC, trying to make everyone’s lives a little easier! Since November 19th is Pizza Day at school, we looked for another option for dinner. We will be offering Subway sandwiches for sale. The cost is $4.00 per 6 inch sandwich. We have 4 varieties available. Please see order form for more information.

If you wish to order dinner, please print the order form and hand it in to the office at the school with your payment (cheque made out to Ross Road PAC or cash). Order forms must be handed in by Monday, November 15th. There will be no sandwiches sold at the Fair, we will be offering pre-purchased sandwiches only.

Dinner will be served from 5:30 – 6:30 on the evening of the Fair.
